The music’s early entrepreneurs and advocates thus found a market for the music by contrasting it with more refined and urban entertainment. We all live in a country, and some of us live in the country, still more of us used to live in the country. This book’s chronology includes country music’s earliest recordings and other landmarks, and its introduction describes well the music’s historical development this foreword stresses how the music, from the early days of recording and radio broadcasting through the 21st century, directs its listeners to a specific place in the nation as it amplifies the dual locations implied by the word country. Musicians make country music with pedal steel guitars, twin fiddles, and nasal, regionally accented vocals, although not all of these prominent stylistic features appear in all songs or in all stages of the music. In this foreword, I hope readers will think about how country music is defined and why people listen to it, even love it.
His encyclopedia can teach readers many things about the most important songs, styles, and artists in country music, although no book can begin to describe all the country music played since the early days of radio and sound recording.
